Girl Online by Zoe Sugg - Review

The Blurb:

Penny has a secret.

Under the alias GirlOnline, she blogs about school dramas, boys, her mad, whirlwind family - and the panic attacks she's suffered from lately. When things go from bad to worse, her family whisks her away to New York, where she meets the gorgeous, guitar-strumming Noah. Suddenly Penny is falling in love - and capturing every moment of it on her blog.

But Noah has a secret too. One that threatens to ruin Penny's cover - and her closest friendship - forever.

My Opinion:

After following Zoe on Youtube for a couple of years now, I was quite interested to see what her book would turn out like once she'd announced it. Throughout the process of the book she was quite open about not writing the book 100% herself but she was very involved. Because of this I expected it to be a good book, and it was.

The main thing that really annoyed me about this book which can be something small to another but large to me was the difference in the cover to the setting of the book. Was it just me that thought with the light blue cover, fairy lights, the pictures full of sun and summer it was going to be summer based? No it was Christmas. But as I said it could not be even noticeable to the younger readers but it really annoyed me, I'm glad I read it in the new year and didn't leave it until the summer. Had I of known of the theme I've would've read it at Christmas time.

Now on to the actual plot of the story, it was very predictable but I found there was a good twist towards the end. The book was very out there with the story line anyway but the twist just left me saying 'Oh' which is good I suppose and didn't leave the book to be totally predictable. It's a good read and I would recommend it for a light read (at Christmas, unless any time of the year is your thing) and I will be purchasing the sequel to see what happens with Penny and Noah. Thumbs up to Zoe!

Changing With The Times...

I currently have a bit of a dilemma, I'm not finding the time to continue with this blog. I have now started a full time job, and spending my days off with Legacy (My horse) I'm not finding the time to keep up with the uploading schedule or the demand of trying out products to review.
As I do have to get the bus to and from work I'm still finding time to read, so I have 2 options in which this blog may be able to continue.

It will either this blog change and become solely 'The Bookworm Series' a book blog or become a book blog with a few beauty posts here and there?

Let me know what you think, Thanks

The Bookworm Series: 2014 Reading Challenge

Over the year of 2013 I never actually gave myself a number of books that I wanted to read, I just read when I felt like it and at times this wasn't enough and I feel I didn't read as many books last year as I wanted to. So this year I have joined in with Goodreads 2014 reading challenge, over the year I have challenged myself to read 25 books. Now this doesn't seem like a lot but in reality I sometimes don't even read a book a month, so even this small amount will seem a little unrealistic for me at this point. Saying that I decided to give myself a number like this to try and push myself to read more. I enjoy it when I'm doing it and really love leaving this world and entering another, but I just don't make enough time to do it when I have my laptop out.

Are you taking part in the Goodreads reading challenge for 2014? Is there any books you would like to request me to read and then review for the series?

The Bookworm Series: Anna and the French kiss

The Blurb

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

My Opinion

Wait!...One thing I need to say is that I'm a sucker for chick-lit. Now carry on.
I have to say before I read this book I didn't read the blurb or any reviews on it. I'd heard all the great reviews and heard the blurb for Lola and the Boy Next Door, I looked it up and seen it's part of a series so I just downloaded this for my kindle and waited a couple of months before reading it. Now if you follow me on my Goodreads page it looks like it took me nearly two months to read this book, I clicked on started to read and then never actually picked up the book until the beginning of this week. In all honestly it took me about 2 and a half days to read this. I read this book on the college bus there and back, and at night I couldn't put the book down. I became too engrossed into the story to even want to sleep. But I have to say one of the main reasons I love this book so much as it's probably the same as everyone else....  Étienne St. Clair. He's what I would picture as a perfect man, he has his troubles but he's still a gentleman and funny at the same time. Enough about him and back to the book, as I've already mentioned it's not only the storyline that keeps you from putting it down it's the way it's written. You feel the emotion that Anna's feeling, and I have to admit my eyes got a little misted in some parts. I actually didn't want the story to finish.

The Bookworm Series: Flowers in the Sky

The Blurb

Just about everyone from my country, República Dominicana, dreams of moving to New York City, except for me. On the flight to New York, my first time on a plane, my first time away from Mami, I was finally free to cry. But nothing came out. I watched as the green mountains of my beloved island slipped away far below.

Fifteen-year-old Nina Perez is faced with a future she never expected. She must leave her Garden of Eden, her lush island home in Samana, Dominican Republic, when she's sent by her mother to live with her brother, Darrio, in New York, to seek out a better life. As Nina searches for some glimpse of familiarity amid the urban and jarring world of Washington Heights, she learns to uncover her own strength and independence. She finds a way to grow, just like the orchids that blossom on her fire escape. And as she is confronted by ugly secrets about her brother's business, she comes to understand the realities of life in this new place. But then she meets him—that tall, green-eyed boy—one that she can't erase from her thoughts, who just might help her learn to see beauty in spite of tragedy.

My Opinion

Before I read this book I read some of the reviews on Goodreads, some were good some were not amazing, but I thought I'd give it a go anyway. As the main character is from the Dominican Republic she would speak random words of Spanish as would her mum in the beginning of the book while she was there, I found this hard to understand further on in the book it would be translated but I had to try any work out what the words where at first. I found that this was the biggest downfall for this book, apart from that I liked the book. It was a nice little story but wasn't like a fairytale it had reality added in.
It shows how things may not always be as they seem, and the difficulties of moving away from your day to day life of a small town to a big city with only knowing one person.

The Bookworm Series: City of Bones

The Blurb

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

My Opinion

When a  friend from college mentioned she was reading this book, I hadn't heard of it. At this point the trailer for the film was out and she showed me that after saying she loved the book and couldn't put it down. I liked the trailer and instantly wanted to read the book. My friend then said she had a voucher to get this book for £2.50 (I think?) and she would get it for me. After she'd given me the book it took me awhile to actually get around to reading it, she gave it to me around April/May and I've only read it this month.
As I hadn't heard of it much before reading it, I wasn't expecting it to be amazing. But some of the best books can be hidden until they get recognition with a movie.
Anyway I loved this book and I couldn't put it down, I tell myself I have to be asleep before 9:30/10 or I won't get up from college so I would go to my room earlier than I normally would just to read this. It's a great story and there's a big twist in the end of the book that I didn't see coming, I kind of just started at the page for a bit. I can't wait to read the rest of the series, they're already downloaded onto my Kindle ready.
If you like books that take you to another world, I really recommend this one.

The Bookworm Series : Warm Bodies

With my college being over an hour and a half away from where I live I spend a lot of time traveling on a bus, As I've always read but wanted to read more I found this the perfect time to read. 3 hours of reading time a day is great, this is when we are on the flat roads and my stomach will allow me to read on the bus.
From this I decided to start a little series where I say the blurb of the book for you guys and then give it a little review of my own and rate it by 5 stars.
I hope you guys are ok with my doing this as I know by blog isn't in a particular category, but most of my posts are beauty related. From this I will be doing this and more lifestyle posts.
