The Bookworm Series: Perfect Chemistry

The Blurb

A fresh, urban twist on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers.

When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created 'perfect' life is about to unravel before her eyes. She's forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for: her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect.
Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more. In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.

My Opinion

With this book I'm really guilty of judging a book by it's cover and name. Opps! But I have to say the cover and name don't give people the greatest view on the book. People get put off my names and covers and I've read a few reviews in where they have put people off the book. That's a great shame because the book and story itself is really great. The characters in it are portrayed realistically, like real people not someones perfect person they've imagined up and stick in a story. It's a modern take on the Romeo and Juliet story line, and it had me hooked. When I started this book I knew what the basics of the story were, it was inevitable they hated each other in the beginning but fell in love (don't shout at me for saying this, you know it was going to happen.) But it was the in between bits and character personalities that kept me hooked. With this book it got to the point where I was nearly holding my eyes open with little wooden sticks just to carry on reading. Oh and hand warmers will forever remind me of this story.
This book has been a great lesson to myself in don't judge a book by it's cover.... or name. I will try to remember this. If it wasn't for the reviews I wouldn't have read it.

P.s I'm going to read the next 2 books in this series so let me know if you would like to have a review of them as well.
